A magazine take on a catalogue of design classics
Massimo Vignelli would say that something well designed will last forever. Santa & Cole has been editing design classics, based on interior and exterior lighting, furnishings and urban elements, for over twenty years. In this collection, which has been added to over time, each new edition is instilled with this classic aura and joins numerous other pieces that have captured the hearts and imaginations of design lovers.
Each year, a catalogue of interiors and new creations is produced to celebrate the re-edition of some of these products or the application of new technologies or materials. In 2015, Solo created an editorial piece with a lifestyle-based theme: the everyday nature of the objects we share in our spaces, bars, museums, hotels and homes. The extraordinary photography of Carlos Pericás and the styling work of Andrew Trotter create the perfect environment for the more editorial approach to this edition, with magazine-style language and the use of typography and layout that are as removed as possible from more technical product descriptions.
In this way, work by Antoni Arola, Miguel Milá or Arne Jacobsen inhabit spaces we are all familiar with, lighting up rooms we have all shared, talked and laughed in. This collection shows us a more familiar, intriguing and classic world we can recognise as our own.
