The most influential restaurant of the
century in seven books

 

In an extraordinary project, the most influential chef of our times and the most prestigious art and design publisher join forces to launch the most ambitious collection of books about El Bulli. Solo was in charge of the graphic design on this exceptional project.

In collaboration with William Hall, creative director at the time of Phaidon Press Ltd., a set of guidelines were established that were flexible enough to accommodate the recent history of El Bulli. The result is a kind of encyclopaedia of contemporary cuisine, divided into an extensive photographic catalogue of exquisite quality. This anthology includes all the recipes from the past seven years, presented in great and careful detail, and a developmental analysis of the creative, research and archiving processes of the team headed by Ferrán Adrià.

The result is a collection of seven books, of astounding content, in which design plays a key role in the order and structure, acting as a guide –through the use of colours and geometric shapes– to help food lovers understand how this restaurant became a global benchmark for creativity.
